AE-LEGAL-004 — Alta Markets Market Data & API Terms
1. Overview
These Alta Markets Market Data & API Terms (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Alta Markets market data, APIs, developer tools, data feeds, endpoints, documentation, keys, integrations, and related technical services.
Alta Markets is the public-facing brand for market data, APIs, issuer information, trading tools, and related services operated by Alta Exchange.
Alta Exchange operates the exchange and provides market infrastructure. Alta Terminal is the customer-facing trading and portfolio platform operated by Alta Exchange. These Terms may apply to APIs or data used by both Alta Exchange and Alta Terminal.
By accessing market data, using an API key, connecting an integration, using developer tools, or using data from Alta Markets, the user agrees to these Terms, the Alta Group Terms of Service, the Alta Group Privacy Policy, the Alta Terminal Customer Agreement where applicable, the Alta Exchange Listing Agreement where applicable, the Alta Exchange Trading Rules, any applicable fee schedule, and any other rules or notices provided by Alta Exchange.
Alta Exchange may update these Terms at any time.
2. Roleplay and Virtual Economy Notice
Alta Markets is designed for use within Minecraft, Discord, roleplay communities, virtual economies, and related online environments.
Unless Alta Exchange clearly states otherwise in writing:
- Alta Markets market data is not real-world securities market data;
- Alta Markets APIs are not real-world brokerage, banking, exchange, or financial infrastructure APIs;
- prices, quotes, trades, orders, holdings, securities, issuer data, and market statistics may represent in-game, fictional, simulated, or roleplay value only;
- these Terms do not create real-world securities, investment, banking, market data, legal, or financial rights;
- Alta Exchange does not provide real-world investment advice, financial advice, legal advice, tax advice, or accounting advice.
Users are responsible for understanding that Alta Markets is a roleplay and virtual economy service unless expressly stated otherwise.
3. Alta Exchange, Alta Terminal, and Alta Markets
Alta Exchange is the legal and operating entity responsible for the exchange, market infrastructure, listings, trading rules, issuer oversight, market data, and APIs.
Alta Terminal is a product and business line of Alta Exchange that provides customer-facing trading, portfolio, account, order entry, and market access tools.
Alta Markets is a public-facing brand used for Alta Exchange, Alta Terminal, market data, APIs, issuer information, developer access, and related services.
These Terms apply specifically to market data and API access provided under the Alta Markets brand and operated by Alta Exchange.
4. Market Data Covered
Market data covered by these Terms may include:
- quotes;
- prices;
- bid and ask data;
- order book data;
- trade history;
- volume;
- charts;
- ticker data;
- issuer information;
- company profiles;
- security information;
- listings;
- IPO information;
- corporate action information;
- dividends;
- trading halts;
- market status;
- account or portfolio data where authorized;
- analytics;
- statistics;
- indexes, if created;
- historical data;
- other data made available by Alta Exchange.
Alta Exchange may add, remove, restrict, correct, delay, or modify market data at any time.
5. API Services Covered
API services covered by these Terms may include:
- public market data APIs;
- private account APIs;
- portfolio APIs;
- trading APIs, if enabled;
- issuer APIs;
- listing APIs;
- company profile APIs;
- order APIs;
- transaction APIs;
- webhook systems;
- developer dashboards;
- API keys;
- authentication systems;
- API documentation;
- sandbox or test endpoints;
- internal or partner integrations;
- other technical services made available by Alta Exchange.
Not all API services are available to all users.
Alta Exchange may add, remove, restrict, suspend, or modify API services at any time.
6. Eligibility and Access
Alta Exchange may require users to meet eligibility requirements before accessing market data or APIs.
Alta Exchange may require a user to:
- create an Alta account;
- connect a Discord account;
- open an Alta Terminal account;
- complete developer registration;
- provide accurate information;
- identify the intended use case;
- accept these Terms;
- accept applicable product terms;
- comply with Alta Exchange Trading Rules;
- pay applicable fees;
- receive an API key or other access credential.
Alta Exchange may approve, deny, suspend, restrict, or terminate access at its discretion.
7. API Keys and Credentials
API keys, tokens, secrets, credentials, and access identifiers are confidential and must be protected.
Users may not:
- share API keys publicly;
- publish API keys in code repositories;
- sell or transfer API keys;
- allow unauthorized users to use API keys;
- bypass authentication;
- use another user’s API key;
- attempt to generate unauthorized credentials;
- hide or misrepresent API usage.
Users are responsible for all activity under their API keys.
Alta Exchange may rotate, revoke, suspend, or reset API keys at any time.
8. Permitted Use
Subject to these Terms, Alta Exchange may permit users to use Alta Markets data and APIs for approved purposes, such as:
- viewing market data;
- building dashboards;
- displaying issuer information;
- tracking portfolios;
- integrating approved tools;
- creating internal analytics;
- testing applications;
- supporting Alta-compatible products;
- approved educational or roleplay projects;
- approved developer integrations.
Permitted use is limited to the access granted by Alta Exchange.
Using the API does not give the user ownership of Alta Markets data, Alta Exchange systems, Alta Terminal systems, or any Alta intellectual property.
9. Prohibited Use
Users may not use Alta Markets data or APIs to:
- commit fraud;
- manipulate markets;
- scrape systems without approval;
- overload servers;
- bypass rate limits;
- bypass authentication;
- access unauthorized data;
- reverse engineer systems;
- copy or clone Alta services;
- create a misleading competing exchange or terminal;
- redistribute data without permission;
- sell data without permission;
- create fake market data;
- create fake orders or trades;
- exploit bugs;
- use stolen API keys;
- use bots or automation in violation of Alta rules;
- interfere with Alta Exchange, Alta Terminal, or Alta Group systems;
- violate Minecraft server rules, Discord rules, Alta rules, platform rules, or applicable law.
Alta Exchange may investigate and restrict users involved in prohibited activity.
10. Redistribution and Display
Users may not redistribute, resell, publish, syndicate, sublicense, or commercially display Alta Markets market data without Alta Exchange approval.
Alta Exchange may allow limited display of market data in approved applications, dashboards, bots, websites, or Discord integrations.
Alta Exchange may require attribution, branding, disclaimers, rate limits, caching limits, or other conditions for display.
Alta Exchange may revoke display or redistribution permission at any time.
11. Attribution
Alta Exchange may require users to identify Alta Markets, Alta Exchange, or Alta Terminal as the source of market data.
Alta Exchange may provide required attribution language, logos, links, or display rules.
Users may not use Alta branding in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or approval beyond the permission actually granted.
12. Caching and Storage
Alta Exchange may allow limited caching or storage of market data for approved use cases.
Users may not store, copy, archive, or build permanent databases of Alta Markets data unless approved by Alta Exchange.
Alta Exchange may impose limits on:
- cache duration;
- stored fields;
- historical data;
- update frequency;
- redistribution;
- commercial use;
- deletion requirements;
- security controls.
Users must delete cached or stored data if Alta Exchange requires it.
13. Rate Limits and Usage Limits
Alta Exchange may impose rate limits, usage limits, request limits, data limits, bandwidth limits, endpoint limits, or account limits.
Alta Exchange may apply different limits by user, plan, product, endpoint, API key, account status, subscription tier, risk level, or technical condition.
Users may not attempt to avoid limits through multiple accounts, multiple keys, proxies, scripts, distributed requests, credential sharing, or other evasive methods.
Alta Exchange may throttle, reject, delay, block, suspend, or terminate requests that exceed limits.
14. Trading APIs
Alta Exchange may offer trading APIs only if expressly enabled.
Trading APIs may allow order entry, order cancellation, order modification, account review, portfolio review, or other trading-related actions.
Trading API users are responsible for:
- all submitted orders;
- automated strategies;
- account security;
- risk controls;
- order accuracy;
- compliance with Trading Rules;
- preventing runaway bots;
- monitoring system behavior;
- maintaining sufficient funds and securities.
Alta Exchange may restrict, suspend, or terminate trading API access at any time.
Submitting orders through an API does not guarantee execution.
15. Automation
Users may not use automated systems, bots, scripts, crawlers, scrapers, trading bots, or high-frequency tools unless approved by Alta Exchange.
Approved automation must comply with:
- these Terms;
- Alta Exchange Trading Rules;
- technical documentation;
- rate limits;
- account limits;
- market integrity rules;
- any special restrictions imposed by Alta Exchange.
Alta Exchange may immediately disable automation if it creates risk, instability, unfair advantage, abuse, excessive load, or market integrity concerns.
16. Data Accuracy
Alta Exchange may provide data that is delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, corrected, unavailable, duplicated, or affected by technical issues.
Alta Exchange does not guarantee that market data, account data, issuer data, charts, quotes, order book data, analytics, or API responses will always be accurate, current, complete, or available.
Alta Exchange may correct market data or API responses at any time.
Users are responsible for validating data before relying on it.
17. No Investment Advice
Alta Markets data, APIs, analytics, charts, alerts, issuer information, and tools are provided for informational, technical, or roleplay purposes only.
Alta Exchange does not provide real-world investment, legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice.
Users are responsible for their own decisions and use of data.
18. Security
Users must maintain reasonable security for applications, API keys, servers, bots, integrations, and systems connected to Alta Markets APIs.
Users must not:
- expose API keys;
- ignore known vulnerabilities;
- store credentials insecurely;
- allow unauthorized access;
- submit malicious requests;
- transmit malware;
- attack Alta systems;
- attempt privilege escalation;
- attempt to access restricted endpoints;
- interfere with other users.
Users must notify Alta Exchange promptly if an API key, integration, or connected system is compromised.
19. Monitoring and Logs
Alta Exchange may monitor API usage, market data usage, request patterns, error rates, trading behavior, account activity, and integration behavior.
Alta Exchange may maintain logs for:
- security;
- billing;
- debugging;
- abuse prevention;
- market integrity;
- dispute resolution;
- rate limiting;
- enforcement;
- system improvement.
Alta Exchange may use logs as official records unless Alta Exchange determines that correction is required.
20. Fees
Alta Exchange may charge fees for market data, APIs, developer access, premium endpoints, commercial use, increased rate limits, trading APIs, historical data, redistribution, or other services.
Fees may be listed in a fee schedule, invoice, product page, subscription page, developer dashboard, agreement, disclosure, or notice.
Alta Exchange may update fees at any time unless a specific written agreement states otherwise.
Failure to pay fees may result in restriction, downgrade, suspension, termination, or collection-style enforcement within the Alta ecosystem.
21. Service Availability
Alta Markets data and APIs may be unavailable, delayed, interrupted, changed, restricted, degraded, or discontinued at any time.
Alta Exchange does not guarantee uptime, latency, endpoint availability, data freshness, webhook delivery, trading API availability, or uninterrupted service.
Alta Exchange may perform maintenance, emergency shutdowns, upgrades, resets, migrations, or feature changes when necessary.
22. Beta and Experimental APIs
Alta Exchange may release beta, sandbox, test, experimental, or unfinished APIs.
Beta APIs may contain bugs, inaccurate data, breaking changes, missing documentation, unstable responses, or incomplete functionality.
Alta Exchange may modify, reset, restrict, or remove beta APIs at any time.
Users should not rely on beta APIs for critical functions unless Alta Exchange gives written approval.
23. Webhooks and Notifications
Alta Exchange may provide webhooks, callbacks, bot notifications, Discord notifications, or other event-based tools.
Webhook delivery is not guaranteed.
Events may be delayed, duplicated, missed, delivered out of order, or changed.
Users are responsible for designing integrations that can handle failures, retries, duplicates, and missing events.
24. Developer Applications
Alta Exchange may require developers to register applications or integrations.
Developers may be required to provide:
- application name;
- owner information;
- Discord account;
- intended use;
- callback URLs;
- security practices;
- data use;
- commercial status;
- redistribution plans;
- support contact.
Alta Exchange may approve, deny, suspend, or terminate developer applications at its discretion.
25. Commercial Use
Commercial use of Alta Markets data or APIs requires approval from Alta Exchange.
Commercial use may include:
- selling tools;
- selling signals;
- selling dashboards;
- paid bots;
- resale of data;
- public commercial websites;
- paid integrations;
- paid analytics;
- third-party brokerage tools;
- institutional integrations;
- any use that generates revenue from Alta Markets data or API access.
Alta Exchange may charge fees, impose restrictions, require attribution, require approval, or deny commercial use.
26. Third-Party Applications
Users may connect Alta Markets APIs to third-party applications only if approved by Alta Exchange.
Alta Exchange is not responsible for third-party applications, external bots, external dashboards, plugins, websites, integrations, security issues, data loss, errors, scams, or misuse.
Users are responsible for choosing and securing third-party applications.
Alta Exchange may block or restrict third-party applications when necessary.
27. Intellectual Property
Alta Group owns or controls Alta Exchange, Alta Terminal, Alta Markets, APIs, documentation, market data systems, websites, bots, designs, product names, databases, code, and related intellectual property unless stated otherwise in writing.
Access to data or APIs does not transfer ownership of any Alta intellectual property.
Users may not copy, clone, reverse engineer, resell, rebrand, or exploit Alta intellectual property without written permission.
28. Confidential and Non-Public Information
Some API responses, documentation, credentials, endpoints, internal tools, private data, account data, issuer data, or technical information may be confidential or non-public.
Users may not disclose confidential or non-public Alta information unless approved by Alta Exchange.
Users may not use non-public information for trading advantage, market manipulation, unauthorized access, or other improper purposes.
29. Account and Data Restrictions
Alta Exchange may restrict access to certain data based on account status, user permissions, issuer permissions, subscription tier, API approval, security review, legal or policy concerns, or platform risk.
Alta Exchange may remove, hide, limit, or redact data at any time.
30. Suspension and Termination
Alta Exchange may suspend, restrict, revoke, or terminate API or market data access at any time.
Reasons may include:
- rule violations;
- abuse;
- fraud;
- market manipulation;
- security concerns;
- excessive usage;
- unpaid fees;
- credential compromise;
- data misuse;
- unauthorized redistribution;
- system load;
- technical risk;
- suspicious activity;
- business reasons;
- platform changes.
Termination does not cancel obligations that existed before termination, including fees, restrictions, investigations, disputes, or enforcement actions.
31. Enforcement
Alta Exchange may take enforcement action for violations of these Terms.
Enforcement actions may include:
- warning;
- API key revocation;
- rate limit reduction;
- endpoint restriction;
- data access restriction;
- account suspension;
- trading restriction;
- termination of developer access;
- removal of integration approval;
- fee assessment;
- market data correction;
- Discord restriction;
- referral to platform administrators, server courts, or community procedures;
- any other action reasonably necessary to protect Alta Exchange, Alta Terminal, Alta Group, users, issuers, or market integrity.
Alta Exchange may act immediately and without prior notice when needed.
32. Disputes
Users may submit disputes through official Alta Exchange or Alta Markets support channels.
Disputes may involve:
- API access;
- API keys;
- rate limits;
- market data;
- billing;
- fees;
- endpoint errors;
- data accuracy;
- redistribution permission;
- account restrictions;
- trading API issues;
- integration problems.
Alta Exchange may resolve disputes based on logs, account records, request history, billing records, system records, support messages, staff review, and applicable rules.
Alta Exchange’s decision is final unless Alta Exchange chooses to reopen the matter.
33. Relationship to Other Agreements
These Terms apply together with:
- Alta Group Terms of Service;
- Alta Group Privacy Policy;
- Alta Group Intellectual Property Policy;
- Alta Terminal Customer Agreement;
- Alta Exchange Listing Agreement;
- Alta Exchange Trading Rules;
- applicable fee schedules;
- developer documentation;
- product-specific disclosures.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and a more specific written agreement, the more specific agreement controls for that subject unless Alta Exchange states otherwise.
34. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by applicable rules and law, Alta Exchange, Alta Terminal, Alta Markets, Alta Group, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and representatives shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or lost-profit damages arising from use of market data, APIs, developer tools, integrations, documentation, or related services.
Alta Exchange’s total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by the user to Alta Exchange for the specific API or market data service giving rise to the claim during the thirty days before the claim, unless a specific written agreement states otherwise.
35. Indemnification
The user agrees to defend and hold harmless Alta Exchange, Alta Terminal, Alta Markets, Alta Group, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and representatives from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from:
- misuse of market data;
- misuse of APIs;
- unauthorized redistribution;
- commercial use without approval;
- exposed API keys;
- insecure integrations;
- third-party applications;
- violation of these Terms;
- violation of Alta Exchange Trading Rules;
- fraud, abuse, or misconduct;
- market manipulation;
- data inaccuracies caused by the user;
- user-created applications or tools;
- violation of server rules, platform rules, community rules, or applicable law.
36. Changes to These Terms
Alta Exchange may update these Terms at any time.
Updated versions become effective when posted, published, or otherwise made available.
Continued use of Alta Markets data, APIs, developer tools, or related services after an update means the user accepts the updated Terms.
37. Contact
Questions, disputes, or support requests should be submitted through official Alta Exchange or Alta Markets support channels.
38. Approval
These Alta Markets Market Data & API Terms are adopted by Alta Exchange as the governing terms for market data, APIs, developer tools, and related Alta Markets services.
